What does enrolling with Fullmind mean for my student?
Your student becomes a full-time public school student through Fullmind's Minnesota partner district while learning at home. Your family continues directing day-to-day learning, schedule, pace, curriculum choices, and educational values. Fullmind and the district handle the public-school paperwork, documentation, and state reporting.
What flexibility does our family keep?
You keep control of your learner's daily schedule and pace, your curriculum choices, and your role guiding learning. Families may also opt out of state standardized testing and may retain the option to participate in sports through their resident district, subject to that district's requirements.
What will our family need to do during the school year?
Families have three main touchpoints:
- Create a simple education plan at enrollment with help from Fullmind. It can change as your student's needs and interests change.
- Complete a brief weekly learning log describing work and engagement for each course. This supports progress reporting, attendance, enrollment, and wallet eligibility.
- Work with Fullmind on Minnesota's annual assessment requirements or the opt-out process.
Can we opt out of Minnesota standardized testing?
Yes. Minnesota has annual testing for enrolled public-school students, and families in the Fullmind program can choose to opt out. Fullmind will explain the requirements and help coordinate the process.
Are special education services available?
Yes. Because your student is enrolled through the partner public school district, eligible special education services are provided by the district at no cost to your family. Fullmind can help you understand how support is coordinated for your learner.
How much is the education wallet, and when is it available?
Each enrolled student receives a $2,550 education wallet for the school year. Funds open in four releases and remain available through the end of the school year:
- $650 once the student is enrolled
- $650 on October 1
- $650 on January 1
- $600 on March 1
Wallet amounts are prorated based on the student's enrollment start date.
How do we make a wallet purchase?
Submit a purchase request with the item or experience and a brief explanation of how it supports learning. Fullmind reviews the request and available balance, then purchases approved items for you. Physical items ship to your home; Fullmind registers or pays providers directly for approved classes, lessons, memberships, and experiences. You can contact the support team to check your remaining balance.
What can the education wallet cover?
Common approved uses include curriculum, textbooks, workbooks, readers, single-student educational software, learning kits and manipulatives, course-related art and science supplies, laptops, tablets, headphones, printers, calculators, enrichment lessons, instruments for lessons, educational field trips, and approved testing or assessment fees.
Approval depends on a clear connection to your student's learning, so confirm with Fullmind before purchasing when you are unsure.
What cannot be purchased with wallet funds?
The wallet does not cover entertainment devices, cellular phones or smartwatches, food, ordinary clothing, gift cards or cash equivalents, furniture and home décor, medical products or services, family or multi-user subscriptions, resale items, or purchases without a clear educational purpose.
Can we use free curriculum and Open Educational Resources?
Yes. Open Educational Resources (OER) are free materials such as textbooks, worksheets, videos, lessons, courses, and assessments. Families can build a curriculum with them or use them to supplement another program. Preview each resource for quality, age fit, standards alignment, and reuse permissions. Trusted starting points include OER Commons, CK-12, OpenStax, OER Project, PBS LearningMedia, MIT OpenCourseWare, Internet Archive, and Mason OER Metafinder.
What live academic support can families choose?
Fullmind offers live core instruction, tutoring, state test preparation, credit recovery, resource-room support, and homework help in one-to-one and small-group formats. Published hourly rates vary by service and format, from $63.65 to $137.09. Ask the Fullmind team to confirm the right service, current rate, schedule, and whether a requested service qualifies for wallet funding before enrolling.
