Varsity Tutors’ homepage offers “Private 1-on-1 tutoring, weekly live classes for academic support, test prep & enrichment, practice tests and diagnostics, and more to elevate grades and test scores.” It describes itself as “Next Gen, AI Enhanced” and “Since 2007,” and lists “1,000+ Schools & Universities,” “10M+” hours delivered and “3,000+ Subjects, every level.”

Its About page says, “Varsity Tutors was born out of the educational experiences of our founder and CEO, Chuck Cohn,” and describes a company that “combines highly-credentialed experts with an advanced technology platform dedicated to live, personalized instruction.” The site’s footer links to its parent company, Nerdy.

Its homepage lists one-on-one tutoring, weekly live classes, test prep, enrichment, and practice tests and diagnostics. Its tutor directory is organized by subject category: Math, Science, English, Test Prep, Languages, Business, Graduate Test Prep, Technology & Coding, Social Studies, Music, Learning Differences and Art.

Varsity Tutors Services for Schools and Districts

When we checked on October 27, 2026, varsitytutors.com/schools and the other schools pages we tried opened Varsity Tutors’ main tutoring page, and we couldn’t load its district information pages. The main page lists “1,000+ Schools & Universities” but doesn’t describe district programs. Ask Varsity Tutors which programs it offers schools and districts, and for a written description of each.

Varsity Tutors Services for Individual Students

For students and families, its homepage offers to “match you with a top 5% tutor” after a short set of questions: “Answer a few quick questions. We’ll recommend the right plan and match you with a top 5% tutor.” Its special education tutoring page includes tutor profiles describing support “so students with IEPs or 504 plans can access grade-level content with confidence.” It also links to AI Education Tools and to practice tests and flashcards.

Varsity Tutors Staff

Its homepage offers to “match you with a top 5% tutor,” and its About page describes “highly-credentialed experts.” Its homepage and Terms of Use say, “Tutors, instructors, experts, educators, and other professionals on the platform are independent contractors.” We didn’t find a description of its screening or background checks on its website; ask Varsity Tutors how it vets tutors and whether tutors who work with your students hold teaching certification.

Varsity Tutors Costs

Varsity Tutors doesn’t publish prices on its homepage, which invites families to “explore live, one-on-one tutoring options, availability, and pricing” with its team. Its special education tutoring page says, “Tutoring is typically purchased in hour packages, with rates varying by tutor experience and subject complexity.” We didn’t find district pricing on its website. Districts can ask Varsity Tutors for a quote.

Varsity Tutors Terms

Its guarantee page lists a Tutor Satisfaction Guarantee, “For all purchasers of tutoring hours through the Varsity Tutors platform,” and a Pass Guarantee for professional certification exam purchases, and says, “Eligibility and other rules apply, including which purchases qualify for each guarantee.” Its Terms of Use say, “Payments and purchases may not be canceled by the user, except as required by law.” We didn’t find contract terms for districts on its website. Ask for the written agreement, including length and cancellation terms, before signing.

Its About page describes “an advanced technology platform dedicated to live, personalized instruction,” and its homepage describes the service as “Next Gen, AI Enhanced” and links to AI Education Tools. Ask Varsity Tutors which devices and platform its sessions use, and how student data is handled.

Varsity Tutors Reviews

Varsity Tutors publishes a Reviews & Testimonials page, which says, “97% of our customers recommend us!” Its homepage reports an average session rating of 4.9 out of 5, “Based on 3.4M Learner Ratings.” We don’t summarize third-party review sites here, because their ratings change and we can’t verify them. Ask Varsity Tutors for references from districts like yours.

Air Tutors offers “Customized programs for schools, districts and organizations” and tutoring for families, and says “All of our tutors come from distinguished academic backgrounds and many have Masters or Doctorate degrees.” Its high-dose tutoring page reports interim results from a Mathematica evaluation of its 2020–21 program: students who attended at least 15 sessions “grew an average of 6.7 percentile points on i-Ready” relative to the national average.
