Stride, Inc. is the company behind K12 and several other learning brands. It serves school districts through K12 Learning Solutions, families through K12-powered online schools and K12 Tutoring, and adult learners through career-training brands. This review covers its services, teachers, costs and terms so districts can decide whether it fits. Stride Overview

Stride’s homepage uses the tagline “Learning for Life—Real Life.” Its Meet Stride page gives its mission as “Help learners of all ages reach their full potential through inspired teaching and personalized learning,” describes 25 years as “a leader in online education,” and says, “Stride has served more than 3 million K–12 learners.” It also says, “We’re a fully remote company.”

Its brands page lists K12, K12 Tutoring, K12 Learning Hub, Tallo, Tech Elevator and MedCerts, and its footer also names Galvanize and Hack Reactor. K12’s About page says, “Stride (K12 Inc.) tracks on the NYSE under the symbol LRN.” For more on K12 itself, read our K12 review.

Stride Services

Stride’s services fall into groups by who they serve: school districts, K–12 students and families, adult learners, businesses and military families. Each is described below from the Stride or K12 page that offers it.

Stride Services for Districts

Stride serves districts through K12 Learning Solutions, whose homepage says, “Modern learning, built for every district,” and “Fill staffing gaps, boost student outcomes, and expand your school district’s flexible learning options.” Its Learning Solutions menu lists K12 Learning Academies (“Fulltime virtual schools”), Teachers (“On-demand”), Rebound (“Credit Recovery”), Future (“Career & technical education”), Assist (“Implementation Consulting”) and Elevate (“Adaptive learning”).

Custom Online Schools

Its full-time online schools page invites districts to “Create a tailored K12 Learning Academy” and says, “Our school is Cognia accredited, and our teachers are certified in multiple states.” It says “virtual learning solutions can help your district to restore confidence and re-enroll lost students.” Its services include “Outreach and marketing to re-engage families,” “Student enrollment services,” “Professional development” and “State reporting.”

On-Demand Teachers

Its on-demand teachers page (“The teachers you need — and your students deserve”) offers help “Whether you need to address short or long-term staffing for online or in-person teaching challenges.” Instruction “ranges from fully synchronous, completely asynchronous, or anywhere in between,” and teachers “follow your district bell schedule for daily remote instructions.”

Rebound Credit Recovery

Its credit recovery page describes “more than 40 credit recovery courses,” offered “Fully online or blended. You can offer our credit recovery courses during school hours, summer school, or at home.” It says, “Self-paced courses and 24/7 teacher support make it work in all three settings.”

Future Career and Technical Education

Its career readiness page describes a “comprehensive virtual or blended career readiness program” “With more than 27 diverse CTE/CRE pathways and 100+ career-focused electives,” to “Provide future-focused learning opportunities that prepare students for industry-relevant certification exams.”

Elevate Adaptive Learning: K12 Skills Arcade

The menu item Elevate (“Adaptive learning”) leads to a page about K12 Skills Arcade, headed “Spark curiosity with game-based learning.” It says Skills Arcade “motivates kids in grades pre-K through 8 to hit district benchmarks” and helps them “master difficult math, language arts, reading, and science concepts,” “With a database of over 45,000 questions.” Teacher dashboards provide real-time metrics that “help schools track critical IEP and RTI goals.” (Stride’s Elevate is not Elevate K-12, which is now part of Fullmind.)

K12 Tutoring for Schools

The K12 Tutoring schools page says, “Close achievement gaps with tutoring that fits your school day,” with “High-impact tutoring led by certified teachers, designed to integrate into intervention blocks and MTSS frameworks.” It says, “Every session is led by a certified teacher. Many hold SPED and ELL credentials,” and “Sessions can be scheduled before school, during designated periods, or after school based on student needs.”

Assist Implementation Consulting

Its implementation consulting page (“Implementation, simplified”) says, “K12’s client success team simplifies setup and adds backup to keep you on track,” and “It’s all backed by expert consultants before, during, and after implementation.”

eLibrary

Its eLibrary page (“Build a love of literacy”) describes “over 17,000 ebooks, including fiction, nonfiction-fiction pairs, and titles in Spanish for students in grades K-12.” It says “teachers can enhance balanced literacy programs with read alouds, guided reading, shared reading, and reading workshop.”

Professional Development

Its professional development page (“Lifelong learning for educators”) offers to help educators “Learn how to successfully plan, implement, and support teaching and learning in an online classroom.” Stride also runs the Stride Professional Development Center, with “on-demand, mobile-friendly courses, developed by educators for educators” and a course catalog of “80+.”

Stride Services for K-12 Students and Parents

For families, Stride works through K12. K12’s homepage says, “The leader in online education since 2000, K12 provides personalized, flexible learning that helps students thrive.”

K12 Online Public and Private Schools

K12’s online public schools page says, “Like traditional public school, online public school is tuition-free,” and “K12-powered teachers are state-certified.” Its online private school page says, “K12-powered online private schools each have their own fee structure,” and lists schools including K12 Private Academy and The Keystone School. Its accreditation page says, “K12-powered schools are accredited by Cognia™.”

K12 Online Learning at Home

K12’s page on online learning at home describes programs for students in kindergarten through 12th grade, with “full curriculum packages and individual courses for purchase,” and says students “can learn part-time, full-time, or class by class.” It adds, “Learning Hub provides more than 15,000 free, interactive lessons.”

K12 Online Summer School

K12’s summer school page says, “Summer is the perfect time for students to catch up, get ahead, try a new language, or explore electives,” and “online summer school courses are offered for 6th–12th graders through K12 Private Academy and The Keystone School.”

K12 Tutoring

K12’s tutoring page says, “All K12 tutors are passionate, state-certified teachers,” and “K12 Tutoring covers 110+ courses across elementary, middle, and high school.” “Sessions are scheduled in advance and happen in real time.”

Stride Services for Adult Learners

K12’s adult learning page lists options from Stride brands:

• Galvanize: “Get online training in software development, coding, and AI tools to prepare for a future tech career.”
• Tech Elevator: “Jumpstart your tech career with Tech Elevator’s live, remote coding boot camps.”
• MedCerts: “Prepare for a career in the medical field with hands-on training, expert-led lectures, and job placement support.”
• Tallo: “As an online platform for professionals, Tallo helps you land jobs and jumpstart your career journey.”
• Pathful Connect: “provides access to virtual job shadows and live career events.”

Stride Services for Businesses

Stride’s brands page describes Tech Elevator as “A coding bootcamp and career prep program offering hiring options, employee reskilling, and aptitude testing.” We didn’t find a separate business services page on Stride’s website.

Stride Services for Military Personnel and Families

K12’s military families page says, “K12 offers exceptional educational programs designed to meet the needs of 1,200+ military families.” It lists “Tuition-free online public schools available in most states,” and says, “Our tuition-based online private schools offer military families a discount.” It adds, “K12 schools use similar platforms and curriculum, making transfers easier.”

Stride Staff

The on-demand teachers page says teachers are “State and content certified” and “All K12 teachers hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university or college.” It says, “Our teachers are part of the K12 instructional team, a Cognia-accredited institution.” K12’s Meet the Teachers page says, “All K12 teachers are state-certified,” and “Many have advanced degrees plus years of experience teaching in both online and traditional schools.”

Stride Costs

We didn’t find district pricing on Stride’s websites. The K12 Tutoring schools page offers districts “clear pricing and documentation to support your procurement process.” Districts can contact K12 Learning Solutions for a quote.

For families, K12’s page on learning at home says, “K12-powered online public schools are tuition-free. K12-powered private school fees vary, but tuition generally ranges from $4,995 to $6,995 per year.” The K12 Tutoring pricing page lists a “Short Format” of 30 minutes at “$34.99” and a “Long Format” of 60 minutes at “$64.99.”

Stride Terms

We didn’t find district contract terms on Stride’s websites. Ask for the written agreement, including length and cancellation terms, before signing. For families, K12 Tutoring’s guarantees page says, “If you aren’t satisfied with your child’s tutor, we’ll provide a free replacement session.”

Stride Software

Instruction is online, and requirements depend on the program. K12’s FAQ says, “Common household items and office supplies like printer ink and paper are not provided,” and “Our enrollment consultants can help address your technological and computer questions and needs.” Ask Stride which devices and platforms each program you are considering uses.

Stride Reviews

K12 Tutoring publishes an Our Reviews page on its website. We don’t summarize third-party review sites here, because their ratings change and we can’t verify them. Ask Stride for references from districts like yours.

What to confirm with Stride

• Which curriculum its teachers will use: yours, or K12’s
• Whether teachers are certified in your state and in the subject they will teach
• How teachers join your school community: staff meetings, parent conferences, your grading system

Stride Learning Solutions Availability

K12 Learning Solutions cites “2K+” “School districts giving learners flexible education options.” The K12 Tutoring schools page cites “195,000+ students across 30+ states.” Partners named on its pages include Newman-Crows Landing Unified School District and Pulaski County Schools. For families, K12’s international page says, “Many K12-powered online private schools serve all 50 U.S. states, and some serve international students as well.”

Stride Learning Solutions Alternatives

Here is how Stride compares with Fullmind, and with two other providers districts often consider.

Stride vs Fullmind

Fullmind was founded as iTutor in 2012 to help two New York schools serve homebound and medically fragile students, and was renamed Fullmind in 2023. Elevate K-12, which has provided live virtual classroom instruction since 2015, became part of Fullmind in March 2026. Today Fullmind offers 17 services to 1,000+ districts, with 3,000+ certified educators.

• Curriculum: Every district chooses: Fullmind educators can teach your curriculum, pacing and learning platform, or use Fullmind’s NCAA-approved, WASC-accredited courses from Elevate K-12.
• Accreditation: Fullmind is accredited by Cognia. The Elevate K-12 courses are WASC-accredited and NCAA-approved.
• Instruction: core instruction, supplemental instruction and LIVE Staffing for full-time and part-time vacancies, plus high-dosage tutoring, all taught live by certified educators.
• Special education and student support: resource rooms, related service providers, case management, homebound instruction and virtual suspension rooms.

Stride vs Proximity Learning

According to its homepage, Proximity Learning is “Supporting 150+ School Districts Nationwide” with “State-certified virtual teachers,” and says, “We customize instruction around your bell schedule, curriculum, and IEP accommodations.” Its virtual schools page says, “Our standards-aligned, engaging curriculum covers nearly 150 courses in core subjects, World Languages, AP, CTE, and Special Education.” We didn’t find pricing on its website. Stride vs Imagine Learning

Imagine Learning’s homepage describes its offerings as “core curriculum, supplemental programs, assessment, professional learning, courseware, and instructional support,” including K–5 and 6–12 Certified Teaching Services, in which “Certified elementary and secondary teachers deliver live instruction.” Its About page says it works with “over 18 million students in over half of the districts nationwide.” Read our Imagine Learning review.

Imagine Edgenuity Courseware

Imagine Edgenuity supplies digital courses for grades 6 to 12, including initial credit and credit recovery. A district comparison should identify the purchased courses and versions, teacher responsibilities and included support services.

Bottom Line

Stride is a large online learning company that serves districts through K12 Learning Solutions, with custom online schools, on-demand teachers, credit recovery, career education and tutoring, and serves families and adult learners through K12 and its other brands.
